Year 6 Transition Information

A Message from the Headteacher

“A warm welcome and congratulations on your child securing their place at Hanson School.  Our transition programme this year has had to change due to the situation we currently find ourselves in, but rest assured we are doing everything we can to ensure your child’s transition to Hanson will be as smooth as possible.  Our staff are currently speaking with all the Primaries to gather as much information about your child and we hope to meet them in the Summer term too!  We are following government guidance and more information about transition events will be posted on the website and communicated with yourselves and the Primaries as we move forward.  Please use the links below to help support this transition and we look forward to welcoming you all soon.”

Richard Woods, Headteacher

Important Information:

Data Collection form and All About Me worksheet

Please complete the Data Collection form (parents) and All About Me worksheet (child) as soon as possible and return this to school to ensure our transition programme can run as smoothly as possible.

These forms can be found below and will also be posted to you.

Year 7 Handbook

Please see the Year 7 handbook which has lots of useful information about how school runs, times of the day, what the uniform is, what equipment is needed and much more. https://hansonschool.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Year-7-Parent-handbook-updated-v2.pdf

Data collection sheet

This will ensure we have the correct contact details to keep you updated with transition activities and the start of school in September as we progress through these difficult times.  https://hansonschool.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Data-Collection-Sheet.pdf

All About Me worksheet

We want to get to know every new student as much as possible so we can support their move up to secondary school.  We need all students to complete the ‘All About Me’ worksheet with as much detail as possible and return this to school before the Summer.  Your child’s form tutor and Key Stage team will read this and will help them to understand your child before they move up to us.   https://hansonschool.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/All-About-Me-worksheet.pdf

We expect ALL students to look smart and wear our School uniform with pride.  You can purchase the school from Whittakers Schoolwear (formerly Henry Smiths at Shipley) and the Uniform Shop (Bradford town centre, Darley Street).  More detailed information can be found in the Year 7 handbook.

Enrichment activities

At Hanson School we believe that it is crucial to give every young person an opportunity to extend their education beyond their main course of study and we are absolutely committed to providing opportunities for broadening students’ educational experience whilst at school with us. Our enrichment programme strives to enhance students’ life at school and increase motivation and achievements, not just in the classroom.
